What types of license plates are available and how much do they cost? |

To obtain a parking placard, you will need to submit Form MV-145A ‘Persons with Disability Parking Placard Application.’ This form will need to be certified by a Health Care Provider licensed in Pennsylvania or a contiguous state (New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia or Ohio). A police officer can also certify the request but only when the applicant does not have full use of a leg or both legs, or is legally blind. NOTE: Health Care Providers may only certify disabilities within their scope of practice.
To obtain a disability license plate, you will need to submit Form MV-145 ‘Application for Persons with Disability, Hearing Impaired, Disabled Veteran, or Severely Disabled Veteran Registration Plate or Persons with Disability or Severely Disabled Veteran Motorcycle Plate Decal' (Form MV-145). Like the 'Persons with Disability Parking Placard Application' (Form MV-145A), this form will need to be completed by a Health Care Provider licensed in Pennsylvania or a contiguous state (New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia or Ohio) or a police officer. NOTE: Health Care Providers may only certify disabilities within their scope of practice.
Requests for duplicate registration credentials (license plate, renewal sticker, or registration (owner’s) card) can be made on the 'Application for Duplicate Registration Card, Replacement of Registration Plate, Renewal Sticker or Weight Class Sticker or Transfer of Registration’ (Form MV-44). Notarization is required only if you are requesting a free replacement of a previously issued product, which was not received within a 90 day period from the date of issuance.

Why has PennDOT stopped issuing the red temporary license plate stickers and are now issuing a credential which hangs on the inside of the rear window? |

The Temporary Registration Permit serves as a better method of temporarily registering vehicles because it:
- Shows the exact date when the temporary registration expires;
- Is clearly displayed in the rear window, making it easier for law enforcement to detect expired registrations, thereby reducing fraud;
- Contains several security features that will also reduce fraud and misuse. One such feature is a hologram that extends through the spaces where the permit’s expiration date is written and displayed. The hologram cannot be easily duplicated, nor can it be removed without destroying the entire permit. Another safeguard against fraud is a clear plastic adhesive overlay that is placed over the expiration date. This overlay also cannot be removed without destroying the permit; and,
- Must match the temporary metal license plate that was issued. This feature discourages misusing the permit by transferring it to another vehicle.
