I was heading home one night from my job at the restaurant. It was around 10 o'clock and I still had a bunch of homework to do for school the next day.
I was tired and upset and had a bad night with some difficult customers and my manager was really on my case!
It was raining and I was trying to hurry home. I just couldn't get away from that place fast enough.
There wasn't much traffic so I guess I just wasn't being very careful. And it was kind of hard to see because of the rain. I was in the left lane getting ready to turn at the next stoplight and all of a sudden everything was out of control!
I was going kind of fast because I didn't want to miss the light and I hit the curb. The front of the car went up and I guess I jerked the wheel trying to recover and the back end of the car spun around and hit a light pole.
It all happened so fast.
I didn't really have time to react.
It was really good that I was wearing my seatbelt. But I still smashed my face in the steering wheel and had to get a bunch of stitches. Broke my arm too. I was so lucky. It could have been so much worse. Now I get really nervous about driving, especially at night.
